Muslims have celebrated the birthday of the noble Messenger of Allah (pbuh) in the month of Rabi` al-Awwal. These often include na`at and nasheed recitals. Lectures, if included ,narrate the miracles he performed. There is, however, seldom any discussion of the power dimensions in the Seerah as part of his life-struggle. Zafar Bangash, Director of the Institute of Contemporary Islamic Thought, discusses some of these issues.

Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution met Tuesday morning with a group of government officials, foreign participants of the 26th Conference on Islamic Unity, ambassadors of Islamic countries and people from different social backgrounds. Speaking at the meeting, which was held on the auspicious occasion of the birthday anniversaries of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) and Imam Sadiq (a.s.), His Eminence described Islamic unity as a sacred slogan. He also described unity of the Islamic Ummah as the most important message of the Holy Prophet's (s.w.a.) mission.

The Islamic Unity Week is marked globally between 12-17^th Rabiul Awwal on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Prophet Mohammad SAW.  This period in which Muslims ponder on the fundamental call of unity according to the Holy Quran was proposed by the Father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini SA, following the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979.

Imam Khomeini, and his successor Imam Khamenei, very well aware of the destructive role of division among Muslims, spared no efforts to unite the Muslims following different schools of thought.
